Attorney Derege Demissie

Attorney Demissie is member of Massachusetts Bar, the Federal District Court Bar, First Circuit Court of Appeals Bar, and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Bar. He is an experienced litigator who has handled numerous criminal, immigration, and civil cases in both state and federal courts.

Attorney Demissie began his law career at the law firm of Grayer & Dilday, where he concentrated in criminal, immigration, and civil rights cases. From 1998 to 2000, Attorney Demissie worked as a staff attorney for the Committee for Public Counsel Services, practicing criminal defense and handling exclusively major felonies.

In 2000, Attorney Demissie entered private practice as a partner, first, at Doherty & Demissie, and later and currently, at Demissie & Church. He specializes in major felony defense and has handled numerous jury trials in complex criminal cases. Attorney Demissie also handles immigrant and civil cases.

Attorney Demissie was appointed twice by the Supreme Judicial Court to serve as a member of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, a fifteen-member state agency established to oversee the provision of legal representation to indigent persons in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
